Owner John O'Riordan, a qualified carpenter from Nelson, received training from a top Auckland floor sander before founding Simply the Best in 1996. His expertise and skills enable him to deliver exceptional floor sanding and finishing services.

We take great care to ensure that the surface is properly prepared by removing existing floor coverings, repairing boards, punching nails in, and filling holes to create a smooth and even surface that is ready to be sanded. Quality Sanding
We take pride in delivering top-notch floor sanding services. We have made significant investments in the highest quality sanding machines available, ensuring that our clients receive smooth and even surfaces that are perfect for final finishing. Our machines are designed to reach the edges of the floor and corners, and can transform uneven floors into a stunning surface. We use a range of sandpapers, including three grades down to a fine 120 grit finish, which we highly recommend for feature floors. Our special Trio sander guarantees the most exceptional finish available in New Zealand.
Superior Finish
We offer a range of options to give your sanded floor a superior finish. Our polyurethane finish is made of top-quality materials designed to withstand even the harshest conditions, including direct sunlight and heavy foot traffic. You can choose from a variety of finishes, including matt, semi-gloss (satin), or gloss, and either water-based or moisture cure. We also offer non-yellowing polyurethane, available in moisture cure or non-toxic, water-based options. If you prefer an alternative to polyurethane, we can recommend a variety of finishes, such as Danish oils, local varnishes, and waxes.
